North Queensland provides a dramatic tropical contrast to
New Zealand, and tours may be linked to our Pacific Island
destinations. The Cape York Peninsula is the focus of much
of our birding in Australia and is arguably Australia's greatest
tropical wilderness with a fantastic array of habitats. One
of the reasons for this fabulous display of the diversity
of life is that there is a close affinity with New Guinea.
Some of New Guinea's wildlife spills over into Australia via
the Peninsula.
We explore much of the exotic fauna it has to offer as well
as North Queensland's own endemic species. We experience a
whole range of habitats with wild coastlines, rugged escarpments,
pure freshwater lakes, lily-studded wetlands and forests of
shaggy paperbark trees as well as lush and misty rainforests.
